The Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program is an unopposed, dually accredited family medicine residency program located in beautiful Marquette, Michigan. Our community-based, three-year training program trains both allopathic and osteopathic physicians following the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFP) guidelines. Graduates of the program are qualified to manage the full spectrum of the specialty of Family Medicine. Founded in 1979 to provide young doctors with medical experience in the rural setting, the program has graduated 156 with many alumni practicing in rural Midwest locations. The program’s intimate size allows for tailored training to meet the individual needs of each resident and includes specialized tracks in obstetrics, emergency medicine, and hospitalist medicine. The Geriatrics Fellowship, accredited by the ACGME, will admit one Family Medicine residency graduate per year. Curriculum is centered on direct experiences with the geriatric population who are ambulatory or living with help in their own home, living in an assisted living facility or in skilled nursing facilities. With completion of this one-year program, the fellow will be qualified to take the Geriatric Medicine Certification examination.
