Rural Experience
At UP Health System - Marquette we are proud of our rural training. Over 90% of our graduates are practicing in federally designated rural areas. To improve resident rural experience, second-year residents do a one-month rural rotation in one of many rural communities.

OsteopathicAs part of UP Health System's commitment to quality osteopathic medical education we offer a three-year family medicine residency.
The first year focuses on building knowledge and skills in patient care based on the philosophy of osteopathic medicine. Manual skills are developed in clinical settings as well as monthly didactic sessions and hospital rounds.
Further emphasis is placed on developing competence in medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, practice-based learning and system-based practice. Manual medicine clinic volume supports experiential learning as residents continue to enhance these skills during their second and third year of training.
These experiences, and enthusiastic support from faculty and community physicians, help residents graduate from the program as complete osteopathic family physicians.
